Sonatherm® 600i

Laparoscopic Probe

The Sonatherm® 600i is a laparoscopic probe that uses high intensity focused ultrasound, or HIFU to deliver soft tissue ablation.

The Sonatherm consists of the treatment console, an articulated probe arm, a pump unit and the laparoscopic probe. The latter is gas-sterilisable and covered with a flexible bolus through which gas-free cold water is circulated for cooling. The 4.0MHz laparoscopic probe contains a HIFU transducer with an overall diameter of 18 mm.

Clinical trials researching the use of the Sonatherm for treating kidney cancer are currently underway at the University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria.
